Originally from South America, the black bean has spread rapidly around the world over the last few centuries. A staple food in America (North and South) and Mexico, it is the variety most consumed in these countries. The black bean is also widely used in Asia (black sauce ingredients), in overseas cuisine (massale, carrys ...) and in Brazilian recipes (feijada ...).
Organic black beans
Soak the black beans for 24 hours in covering with plenty of water, then drain. Cook the black beans in lightly-salted, boiling water for 1:15 hour to 1:30 depending on the desired texture. Black beans can be consumed hot alongside rice, in meaty stews, in soup or even cold in mixed salads. Black beans are often used in South American recipes, including feijoada, burritos and enchiladas. Keep in a cool, dry and dark place.
