The red lentil is small (4 to 5 mm diameter), orange colored and sold in shelled form. As a result, it cooks more easily than other varieties, turns yellow when cooked and turns into a porridge with a slightly peppery taste.
Organic red lentils
Place 1 volume of lentils in 3 volumes of lightly-salted water and cook for 15 minutes. Red lentils can be eaten with meat, vegetables or fish. They’re also delicious in soup, purées and veggie burgers. Keep in a cool, dry and dark place.
