What is aromachology ?

Aromachology, also known as olfactotherapy, involves breathing essential oils to balance the emotional level. The purpose is thus to instantly reach all the areas of our brain that play a role in emotions, memories and the olfactory sense (limbic system) in order to provide psycho-emotional benefit.

Our nerve cells are in direct connection with our olfactory receptors located in our nostrils and our limbic system. This is why we talk about olfactory memory: who has never return into childhood just by smelling a scent?

Note: True concentrates of benefits, make sure to always favor 100% natural essential oils certified Organic Agriculture. The beneficial role of oils is markedly lower when they are not from organic farming, or even harmful (pesticides, GMOs, etc.).

How to practice aromachology ?

The practice of aromachology can be carried out with a professional (naturopath, aromatherapist, hypnotherapist ...) but also alone. The sessions are short, between 5 and 15 minutes, in a quiet place, during which you breathe in one or more organic essential oils. Meditation, yoga or the practice of positive visualization can complement an aromachology session to maximize its effects. This practice helps, for example, to reduce stress, anxiety or even to promote sleep.

Aromachology is an individual practice: apply it as you see fit!

Understand the olfactory pyramid

If you want to achieve your own synergies of essential oils, it is essential to consider the olfactory pyramid. This is the lifespan of each essential oil from an olfactory point of view: the mixture must be harmonious for you to enjoy its benefits.

  • Top notes (the most volatile): citrus fruits, aromatics, marine and green notes
  • Heart notes: flowers, fruits, spices
  • Base notes: gums, resins, wood, leather, food notes (vanilla, coffee, etc.)

To achieve a “talking” blend, try to choose at least one essential oil from each category to build a unique scent. Finally, let your mixture sit three to four hours before use.

Tip: Always add more base and heart notes than top notes.
